Side Dishes to Complete Your Perfect King Cotton Meal!

It’s no secret that our King Cotton food products help contribute to the perfect meal. With our wide variety of sausage products, like our King Cotton Breakfast Pork Patties or our Hickory Smoked Bacon, building the perfect dishes for that special potluck or weekly Sunday dinner has never been easier. We aim to make sure our products can go with as many diverse side items as possible, but we have some specifically in mind that are the perfect pairing with many of our products.

Southern Style Potato Salad

You can’t have a Southern cookout without potato salad. A cookout without potato salad is like a fountain without water: it just doesn’t work. At your next cookout, bring along our King Cotton Smoked Sausage to throw on the grill and bring with it this classic southern style potato salad recipe. This recipe is also perfect for using our Hickory Smoked Bacon! You’ll absolutely love it!

In a large bowl, combine chopped boiled potatoes, cooked King Cotton Hickory Smoked Bacon, mayonnaise, mustard, chopped celery, chopped red onion, apple cider vinegar, and chopped hard-boiled eggs. Stir until thoroughly combined and add salt and pepper to taste. For the full recipe, click here.

Cheddar Biscuits

Biscuits are arguably the second best part of breakfast, the first being our King Cotton Breakfast Pork Patties. Placing one of our sausage patties in between a light and fluffy biscuit is genuinely the best way to wake up in the morning. How could you possibly improve on a southern-style biscuit, you ask? Simple: add cheese. Having small, salty pockets of cheddar cheese in your biscuit is the perfect addition to your morning. This recipe for southern-style cheddar biscuits is so simple and quick to make.

Preheat your oven to 425 degrees F. Take one cup of grated cheddar cheese and 2 cups of self rising flour in a bowl and combine together. Add one cup of heavy cream and stir until a moist dough forms. Roll the dough out on a floured surface until relatively flat and then cut out your biscuits with either a biscuit cutter or do it the southern way and use the rim of your favorite drinking glass. Bake in the oven for 15-20 minutes. For the original recipe, click here!

Homemade Brown Sugar Baked Beans

Baked beans and sausage are a classic pairing. They make frequent appearances at almost every backyard barbecue and are usually the first to run out on the dinner lineup. There’s just something about the sweet and smoky flavor of baked beans that goes so well with Southern food. It’s also one of those dishes that goes perfectly with any kind of sausage. Homemade baked beans are ten times better than out of a can, and they are the perfect pairing for any of our King Cotton sausage products.

All you need are three 15-ounce cans of pinto beans, 1 or 2 large onions (depending on how you feel about onion flavor), butter, ketchup, brown sugar, molasses, yellow mustard, and our King Cotton Hickory Smoked Bacon. Sautee your onions in butter until lightly translucent then combine all ingredients minus the bacon in a baking dish. Top with strips of bacon and bake on the middle rack for approximately 2 hours. Food in the south is not just about sustenance; it’s a way of showing affection, of communication. It’s a form of expression and a way of sharing something special with other people. Show the people around you that you care about them by making them a meal with our King Cotton products.
